Maintenance Technician B

Wabash Castings Inc. in Wabash, Indiana has a position available for a Maintenance Technician B.  This position is responsible for

Essential Job Functions:

  • Participate in daily safety and planning meeting.
  • Ensures operation of machinery and mechanical equipment by completing PMs or thru downtime repairs.  Preventive maintenance requirements on motor, pneumatics, hydraulics, conveyor systems, furnaces, and other types of foundry equipment.
  • Repairs or replaces defective parts on equipment.  Dismantles machinery in order to access part(s) needing repair replaces, repairs defective parts and reassembles machinery.  Lubricates and cleans working mechanisms on production equipment.
  • Provide emergency/unscheduled repairs of all production equipment during production and perform scheduled maintenance repairs of production equipment during machine service.
  • Must be capable of following prints, diagrams, sketches, manuals, and oral instructions.
  • Must be capable of understanding printed PM format and able to fill out all paperwork involved.
  • Must be willing to continue learning base with hands on experience or formal training of some type.
  • Must maintain continuity among work team and management thru work actions and communication.
  • Must read and understand work instructions.
  • Must complete paperwork as necessary for position.

JOB REQUIREMENTS:

Skills, Knowledge and Abilities

  • Good communication skills; and, work in a team environment.
  • Knowledge and experience with electrical equipment; single and three phase, 110v & 24v dc controls, prints and schematics.
  • Mechanical knowledge of troubleshooting, pneumatic and hydraulic repairs.
  • Must have good judgment and decision making skills.
  • Must have good time management skills.
  • Must have knowledge and understanding of how to appropriately wear job required PPE.
  • Ability and willingness to learn, take formal training and meet the requirements of the WCI Maintenance Training Plan.
  • Ability to read, understand and follow work instructions; and, to follow directions with attention to detail.
  • Ability to use hand tools.
  • Ability to repetitively lift up to 75 lbs; tolerate repetitive bending and twisting; and, stand for long periods of time.
  • Ability to work in temperatures with variations ranging from approximately 100 degrees in the summer to approximately 65 degrees in the winter.

EXPERIENCE AND EDUCATION:

  • Requires two years previous maintenance experience.
  • High school diploma or GED
  • Experience welding with MIG and Arc welding.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; reach with hands and arms; balance and stoop; stretch; and push pull, transfer, move, lift up to 75 lbs and occasionally 135 lbs.  The employee must regularly stretch, push, pull, transfer, move, lift up to 75 lbs.

The Test Technician is responsible for all aspects of the tester build process including, mechanical, electrical and documentation.  The candidate must have the ability to plan and execute projects to completion at the required performance levels:  Build RF based test equipment using industry best practices in wiring and cabling.  Troubleshoot RF based test equipment in the 300 to 900MHz range using standard RF instruments (spectrum analyzers, signal generators, current probe).  Execute RF correlation on test equipment including usage of 3 meter site and outdoor range sites.  Use general build equipment as required, including:  mills, lathes, soldering irons and automated and manual crimpers.  Aid in the remote troubleshooting of testers as directed by a Test Engineer.  Ability to travel out of the country.  Estimated 10% duties.

Education/Certifications

Associated Degree in Electronics or equivalent with 3 or more years related experience as a Test Technician (manufacturing environment preferred).

Experience/Qualifications

Ability to read schematic drawings and technical documents.  Prior RF experience with Spectrum Analyzers and RF signal generators.  Fundamental understanding of grounding practices used in RF applications.

Welding Instructor

Job Duties and Skills:

Impact Institute, located in Kendallville, Indiana, is seeking an instructor in its Welding program.  The successful candidate will have proficient knowledge in Oxyacetylene Welding, Gas Tungsten Arc Welding, Gas Metal Arc Welding, Flux Cored Arc Welding, Plasma Cutting, Shielded Metal Arc Welding, welding blueprints and symbols, non-destructive testing and safety/health regulations as related to the welding field.  Impact’s Welding Instructor has the responsibility to prepare students to meet entry level knowledge and skill requirements in their specialty area. Our welding program is open to high school juniors and seniors from 13 high schools in Northeast Indiana. 

Candidates should hold an American Welding Society Certified Welding Inspector credential AND Certified Welding Educator credential or have the ability to obtain these credentials within 2 years of hire; a current teaching license or the ability to obtain an Indiana Workplace Specialist license; and a minimum of 5 years work experience as a welder.  In order to obtain a Workplace Specialist License, candidates must be able to provide documentation of either 6,000 clock hours of occupational experience within 5 years or 4,000 clock hours of occupational experience within the last 10 years and documentation of a two year Associate’s Degree or higher.
