Wirco, Inc. is GROWING!  Wirco, Inc. is looking for a Brake Press/Shear Operator.  The right candidate will be responsible for the daily setup and operation of hydraulic press brakes and shear operating equipment.  Position includes running multiple pieces of materials processing equipment.  Ability to read blueprints, strong math skills, machining principles and welding fundamentals are required.  Candidate must have fabricating knowledge to fabricate various products to meet our customers’ specifications.

Good candidates will work within time standards and quality expectations to set up and operate hydraulic presses and shear equipment.  The selection of correct tooling, load, install and correctly set up the tools required to produce accurate bends and cuts required per customer order specifications.

A High school diploma or GED required.  Two years’ experience as a brake press and shear operator in a manufacturing environment.

Job Summary:

An individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and needs to be willing to learn new tasks as needed.  In addition to general maintenance duties, this employee will be specifically responsible for inspecting, servicing, troubleshooting and repairing company fork trucks as needed.  Employee must follow a systematic process for accomplishing preventive, scheduled and emergency equipment maintenance.  Employee must be knowledgeable of industrial electricity (all phases and voltages), mechanical, electrical, pneumatic and hydraulic operations, troubleshooting techniques, blueprint, schematic analysis and proper use of tools and diagnostic equipment.  In performing these responsibilities, employees are to work safely, efficiently, and cooperatively in a manner that demonstrates team member involvement.

Job Summary:

Responsible for fabrication of product by welding together the correct pieces to produce finished product.  In performing these responsibilities, employees are to work safely, efficiently, and cooperatively in a manner that demonstrates team member involvement.

Responsibilities / Tasks

  • Must be knowledgeable of all parts used for the assembly of products
  • Will need to verify parts to print
  • Must be able to read blueprints
  • Build units by welding to quality specifications
    • Making sure of squaring, levelness and plumb
  • Must remove BB’s and sharp edges from finished product using hand tools
    • Sander, putty knifes, chisel and hammer
  • Inspect finish products against engineering specifications
  • Will need to use hand tools throughout production
  • Accurate use of a tape measure
  • Must notify supervisor/lead person for final inspection
  • Will need to know how to use magnetic hoist to move product
  • Fork truck operation
  • Must have problem solving skills
  • Must have basic math skills
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis
  • Must be able to bend, twist, squat repetitively throughout work day

Paint Prep

Job Summary:

Employee is responsible for preparing product for painting.  This includes inspection of product for missing welds, removing BBs, sharp edges, washing with pressure spray and dry with air before taking to paint booth.  In performing these responsibilities, employees are to work safely, efficiently and cooperatively in a manner that demonstrates team member involvement.

Responsibilities/ Tasks

  • Must be knowledgeable of all product inventory that is scheduled to be painted
  • Receive and accurately maintain work schedule from supervisor or lead person
  • Pull product from staging area using forklift, pallet jack or cart and take to prep area
  • Inspect product-remove sharp edges, BBs and smoothing welds using putty knife, sander, angle grinder or other hand tools if necessary
  • Move product into power wash booth to degrease.  Use of power washer and cleanser.  Employee may get wet when doing this.
  • Move product to staging area and dry with air hose
  • When time allows, deliver product from paint area.  Also, may need to move product from cart to rack using a hoist
  • Must be able to use forklift and pallet jack
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs on a regular basis
  • Must be able to bend, twist, squat repetitively throughout work day
  • Must be able to speak, write, read and understand English
  • See and hear within reasonably acceptable limits, (this includes the ability to see at a distance and peripherally)
